The Emotional Pain Body can also be referred to as cellular memory. It is how we react to different people and situations. Ultimately this reaction comes from within. It can be constructive or destructive. Our body interprets what is coming in and reacts to what is coming out. When we say “pain body” we are referring to actions like gossip, complaining, putting ourselves or others down. It is passing on our emotional energy to our surroundings. This emotional energy many times is generational which could take time to heal. However, healing these areas can stop them from being passed down to our children and our children’s children. What a great motivational reason to take action!
The Emotional Pain Body is especially important to me because it can create a lot of unnecessary stress. I think if we are aware of it we will react less and respond more as we heal. Our ultimate goal here is to heal which in turn makes us feel better. This is a WIN-WIN!
I discovered the Emotional Pain Body during the process of my own personal healing while encountering a “humbling moment”. This shed light on an area that needed my focus. It was a moment that could not be blamed on anyone but myself. This forced me to deal with my pain. Up until that moment, I blamed others for my actions. This time, I chose to be honest with myself and begin the steps of processing through it. Let’s go through those steps together!
- Understanding the Concept. Our first step on the healing journey is to have an understanding of what the Emotional Pain Body is and to believe that it is a way for our bodies to heal. Our belief then brings awareness.
- Moments to Heal. When we open ourselves up to healing certain areas within, life will bring us experiences to do so. It is best to see them as opportunities and recognize the benefit of these moments rather than something traumatic and negative. If we allow ourselves to benefit then we are nurturing the healing process.
- Paths to Healing. Healing is as unique as a fingerprint. Opening ourselves up to different healing practices is key. For my own healing journey, I embraced many different ways such as: reading, meditating, prayer, nutrition, adjustments, exercise, proper sleep, forgiveness, persistence, acupuncture, various chiropractic techniques and other healing arts.
- Believe. For me, in my heart of hearts, I truly believed I could do it! There were times I was exhausted and wanted to stop but my inspiration came from deep within…my genuine belief in healing kept me going.
Even though I’m still walking out my healing, the feeling now is so different from when the process began! Most importantly, I feel happier. I’m out of the survival mode and living rather than surviving. I treat people better and stay present by being less judgmental and more relaxed, relatable and open. I have benefited greatly over the past several years even though my healing is not yet complete. What a great outlook!
Are you ready to get started? Here are some tips that have helped me through this journey.
- Be aware. Recognize what is within. Have you noticed any areas where you tend to overcompensate or notice extreme areas in your life? Those could be clues to where you hold your pain.
- Be brave enough to ask. Those that we love and trust can help us see areas that we have blinded ourselves to. Be sensitive to what you feel is accurate.
- Be open and love yourself. This is a journey. Life experiences will help guide us through different points of our healing. It’s important to see those moments as significant and appreciate what they bring. And remember to love yourself through it.
- Be responsible for your own healing. Our healthcare team and people in authority are here to provide tools for us to use if we choose to do so, however, it isn’t their responsibility to heal us. As I mentioned earlier, healing will look different for everyone. It is up to us to walk it out, learn, grow and heal along the way.
- Be flexible. As we begin to open up and allow healing to take place, we might experience some “honest moments”. This isn’t easy to see because it reveals pain, ugliness and negativity. Some of us will want to correct it immediately and those are the moments we need to remember to be flexible. These issues weren’t created overnight therefore repairing them might take time. “Although our intellect always longs for clarity and certainly, our nature often finds uncertainty fascinating.” – Carl Von Clausewitz
I remember going through this healing process desperately wanting clarity. I soon found out that total clarity would have inhibited me from experiencing and learning from the process. We weren’t meant to be clear on everything. The key is to enjoy this journey called life!
