Friends, there is power in the present moment. The day I realized the power held in the present and chose to remain there was the day I really started living…truly living. To truly live is experiencing each moment to its fullest and receiving the joy, life and wisdom that it brings. We all have found ourselves dwelling on the past or daydreaming about the future. Neither of these are “bad”, they have their place in this journey; however, we can only live a complete life when we live completely in the moment. Sound exciting? Let’s take the first step…our past.
What’s in Your Bag?
Think of past issues like items in a backpack. When we are unwilling to let go of internal history, we begin to stuff more and more into our bag until one day we recognize what a heavy burden we are carrying around. Reliving these memories of the past keeps us from enjoying life right now.
Carrying the past hinders our energy from fully engaging in the now. Socrates said it well when he stated, “The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old but on building the new.” Life is right here, right now. Past events and emotions don’t have control over you unless you allow them to stay.
Unpack Your Bags
Take a moment to look within. If you are holding on to a particular issue or memory, are you willing to simply let that go? If you are, decide to release it right now. Repeat this process until you no longer feel an emotion connected to that memory. It can simply be a memory. For a deeper look into healing the past, I highly recommend “The Healing Code” by Alexander Lloyd.
Remember, there isn’t anything in the past that can hold you back from being present now. We make that choice. Letting go is a journey and one that we will repeat as life brings us highs and lows. If we are conscious of this and expect it then we will recognize it as it happens and have the ability to immediately let it go.
“We can learn not to keep situations or events alive in our minds, but to return our attention continuously to the pristine, timeless present moment rather than be caught up in mental movie-making.” – Eckhart Tolle
Present Power
As we work on unpacking our bags and letting go of the past, we begin to focus our attention on the Now. Events, thoughts, drama, fears and emotion come and seem important at the time but then they are gone…gone along with that moment. By staying present, we allow those things to dissolve and not follow us.
There is power available to us when we engage in the present moment…the Now. It is where God is. His very name, “I Am” describes where he has chosen to take residence. It is where I have chosen to live. What about you?
“Wherever you are, be all there” – Ann Voskamp
If we can begin to learn how to be “all there” wherever we are and whatever we are facing, then we will stand where God resides. We will hear the Voice speak, guide and reveal. That presence will flow and transform how you feel, what you say and what you do. You will recognize the value and power in the Now.
Unpack your bags and be fulfilled in just living each moment. Feel the joy and weightlessness that it brings. What an amazing feeling when you recognize your power of the past and the power that is available to you in the present. Learn to just be and allow life to unfold as it should. It opens the door to a world of fascinating curiosity. You will see how fun life can be regardless of the world around you. Enjoy!
Welcome to the joy of healing,
